I fell into cat rescue on a cold day back in January of 2014. I saw 2 tuxedo kittens hopping through the snow, occasionally stopping to lift one paw for a minute before continuing on.

I realized they were freezing and wondered where they went for shelter from the cold.  I Googled how to make a shelter and ran out to grab what I could to put together something for these kittens to get out of the cold.

And so it began, other cats started showing up and I built more shelters. Then I started trapping cats and getting them fixed and released (TNR), becoming a registered feral colony caretaker with Treehouse. At one point, I had 18 cats I was responsible for, making sure they had food, water and shelter from the elements as well as any vet care they might need.

I soon realized that a lot of the cats coming around were not feral, but fixed and microchipped or just friendly and intact. So I began looking for rescues to take these cats and adopt them out into homes.

I expanded from the cats in my alley to two streets over and then as far as five to six blocks away from my street. When I am asked to help trap/rescue, I go to wherever I am needed.

This has become my 2nd job, one I do not get paid for, but I don’t mind…..I do this for the cats, to give them a second chance at a better life.
